The interest in all three JUMPING PROSPECTS CHELTENHAM FESTIVAL PREVIEW EVENINGS is certainly gathering momentum.

The panels at each venue are as follows.
Maghull Town Hall, Liverpool, Monday 5th March 7.45: John Parrott, Stewart Machin, David Carr & Me (John Morris)

Heywood, Hopwood Unionist Club, Manchester Road, Heywood, 6th March Tuesday 7.45: Charlie Longsdon, Keith McHugh, George Primrolo, & Me

CHESTER, St Teresa’s Legends Bar, Blacon, Wednesday 7th March 7.45: Warren Greatrex, Darren Owen, Andy Holding, Ken Pitterson, & Me

I’m only there to cause havoc and try to squeeze out some sense from my guest panels.

For those who don’t know what I’m offering. Each panel will discuss the merits of horses entered in various races at Cheltenham in March. The evenings are not for the faint hearted, as differing opinions will surface. Usually there is verbal bloodshed, plenty of humour, along with off the cuff remarks that are not allowed to be repeated outside the venues. In other words all Festival Preview Evenings are an absolute scream and highly entertaining.

If you ventured out to Maghull last year, you will recall my outburst concerning those engaged in business directly below our little get together.
Matt Williams text me the next day about my infamous phrase to say. ‘That one will live in the memory forever.’
I got into so much bother about that phrase, but it was a laugh. The evening was a spectacular success and raised a substantial sum that was donated to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.

All three venues will was again provide donations to Charity, including Alder Hey, Alzheimers Society & Help For Heroes.

There will be raffles at each venue to win bookmakers free bets and other prizes.
If you want your card marked then chose one of the dates above and toddle along to experience a new way of selecting your festival winners or lays!

Due to Heath and Safety, I have limited space at each venue and I would advise you to pre-order your tickets as soon as possible.
Call 0151 520 0080 to reserve your place NOW.

My schedule for the next few weeks will include producing the Jumping Prospects Spring Festival Contenders along with the all important Dark Horse File that last year produced some very big priced winners, including a 33/1 shot that was updated from the autumn book following a good run over fences. He was then sent back over hurdles at Ffos Las, but I clearly stated he would be worth looking out for and he won in good style. Other winners included the Tote Gold Trophy winner at 12/1 and Captain Chris in the Arkle at Cheltenham at 7/1. Just three of a host of winners.

My view is that the autumn book always produces numerous winners (current total 170 since 1st October 2011) However, this game moves quickly and updates and new faces will continuously ensure that my followers will be ahead of the game. My aim is to have the Spring Contenders ready by the 1st March, perhaps a few days earlier if I pull my finger out! The amount of work to be completed is enormous, but as usual I will be talking to trainers, contacts and watching as many races to form an up to date opinion are those likely to make their own headlines over the coming months. My insight into the Irish runners likely to figure at Cheltenham and Aintree, should prove to be very helpful to my readers. The ever popular ‘Dark File’ looks sure to produce further decent priced winners. The cost of this new publication is only £11 including P & P. If you are a regularly book buyer, you already know the VALUE of JUMPING PROSPECTS. Full details will be sent out at the beginning of February. Place your order early, as winners will start to appear from day one of publication!

Besides the Spring Contenders, the 3 scheduled Cheltenham Festival Previews on 5th Maghull Liverpool, 6th Heywood nr Oldham & 7th March at Blacon, Chester are attracting plenty of support interest. It will be advisable if you book in advance by calling 0151 520 0080. Tickets for all 3 venues cost £10, with a small charge for booking and postage. The latest addition to the Chester panel is Lambourn Trainer, Warren Greatrex.

I’ve still to confirm the full line ups at Maghull and Heywood, but I hope to have more updates later this week. Don’t forget to book early as all three venues will sell out quickly judging by the interest being shown by Cheltenham groupies!

The Jumping Prospects autumn book had its second big priced winner in the past three days when James Ewart sent out ALLOW ME to win at odds of 16/1. This now takes the total number of winners since the 1st October 2011 to 165! There will be the opportunity to purchase my next publication from 1st march. The SPRING FESTIVAL CONTENDERS BOOK will be packed with hints towards the likely contenders at the Festivals along with another unique set of new horses to follow at some of the lesser meetings held during March and April. If this new publication has a fraction of the success of the autumn book, people will certainly have the opportunity to capitalise upon what has already been achieved this season.

Another good piece of news from Jumping Prospects, I’ve now secure the third venue to host a Cheltenham Festival Preview Evening at the Hopwood Unionist Club Oldham on Tuesday 6th March @ 7.45. I have also secured Free £5 TOTE/ Betfred Betting vouchers for everyone who purchases a ticket in advance from 0151 520 0080.

Each evening will have a panel of 4 or 5 jump racing experts giving their views on the likely contenders at Cheltenham. The full line up will be confirmed shortly.

The dates of the Preview Evenings are: Monday March 5th Maghull Twown Hall L31 7BB. Tuesday 6th March Hopwood Unionist Club Oldham OL10 2AP, St Tereas Legends Bar Blacon Chester CH1 5BU all start at 7.45. Be there!

On Tuesday I spent the day at Donald McCain’s stable in Cheshire, as Aintree launched the build up to the 2012 Grand National. As usual it was an informative and enjoyable day interviewing the likes of Phil Smith the Senior Jumps Handicapper, who usually looks forward to my style of interview. I asked him had he set a time scale to producing the weights for the big race, as I’m expecting a lesser number of entries due to the change in the race conditions ruling out horses rated lower than 110. I don’t think he was over impressed when I estimated he would have the job done in about 15 minutes, particularly if Ballabriggs was given top weight! We discussed certain aspects of his ‘Aintree factors’ and once I’d completed the interview I upgrade the time scale to 30 minutes. Again he was not over impressed with this assumption.

Ballabriggs was paraded for the Press and standing with Michael Meagher and Mr Trevor Hemmings, we all agreed how well the horse looked, before his campaign started. Donald said he has no specific plans for the 2011 Grand National winner, but wherever he makes his return, I’m sure he will be primed for his seasonal debut.

Another horse to look particularly well was the juvenile winner Hollow Tree. I’m not usually one to dribble about the juveniles, but he did look the part. there is another decent race in him on better ground than he encountered when winning at Chepstow in December.

The day ended with some presentations, including one for the winning breeder. There was a problem here, due to the fact the breeder was no longer around. It was therefore amusing to see the award go to… Beryl McCain, as the breeder of the winning trainer!

It was also good news to hear about the bronze bust of the late Ginger McCain. Personally I’d have prefered them to name the two new stands after Ginger & Red Rum, as well as the bust! After all they did more than anyone to help save the Grand National during darker times.

One of the unlucky losers during my Christmas selections made amends today, Carrigmorna King finished second last time out at Taunton, but it was his day today at Newbury. The price would not set the pulse racing at 6/4 from 7/4, but it helped recoup any losses incurred and the horse did the job really well in a decent novices’ hurdle that looks sure to throw up future winners.

My plans concerning the Cheltenham Preview Evenings being held in Maghull on 5th & Blacon, Chester on 7th March, have met a small setback via the decision of the Racing Post to charge organisers of these very valuable, informative and entertaining evenings to advertise them in the paper . The way I look at it is that people enjoy Cheltenham. The Racing Post enjoys telling people about Cheltenham. We are all promoting the biggest jumps meeting to the wider racing world and for the sake of a few days of filling a page in the Racing Post the games ‘Trade paper’, they could not carry on a tradition of giving something back, or as I like to say ‘give to receive’. I’ve enough other ways to promote the fact the evenings will take place at the beginning of March and hopefully I and those helping to make the evenings entertaining will raise a substantial donation for worthy causes. Perhaps the person who took this decision at the Post has his name ending in Scrooge!

On going details will be placed on this blog.

Interest in the Jumping Prospects Cheltenham Preview Evenings is definitely gathering momentum following the announcement of 2 of 3 venues to host them. The first will be on Monday 5th March, at Maghull Town Hall with Stewart Machin ace Channel 4 & Racing Uk anchorman on the panel, two other panelist will be confirmed in due course. The second venue on Wednesday March 7th at the St Teresa Sporting Legends Club in Blacon Chester. The panel now confirmed for this event is Darren Owen racecourse commentator, who will attempt to keep order amongst Ken Pitterson Racing Post Weekender, Andy Holding professional punter and William Hill Radio pundit. You also have to put up with me and my dribble on those likely to play a major role at Cheltenham. The third venue is yet to be confirmed, but I hope to announce this one very soon.

Full details concerning booking tickets will also be published in the near future. I can be contacted on 0151 520 0080 if you would like to reserve your place on the guest list at either venue! Due to the demand last year at Maghull, I have to sell tickets in advance to avoid disappointment on the night and cause anymore mishaps than happened on that particular infamous evening. Those of you who where present on that evening will know exactly what I’m on about, but hopefully their will be no Green Goddesses making an unexpected appearance this time around!

I’m working hard to secure some decent prizes for the charity raffles, plus some Charity bets from the bookmakers. All three evenings should be very popular and I’m looking forward to the experts producing some excellent advice from our panels for the benefit of Cheltenham punters.

There will be a Jumping Prospects Spring Festival Contenders available on 1st March. This new publication will feature the leading contenders likely to figure at Cheltenham & Aintree, but will also include a section to focus on some of the new and those darker sorts that will ply their trade at lesser meetings, but should be of serious interest for all punters. Full details of this new publication will be updated very soon.

The JUMPING PROSPECTS autumn book continues to produce winners with the total now standing at 154 since 1st October 2010. Hopefully the book will have produced 200 winners by the end of February, if not before.

Of course the jump racing game is like shifting sands and moves on with some new names continuously making the headlines. My next project is to concentrate on the production of my SPRING FESTIVAL CONTENDERS Publication, due to be available by 1st March. I plan to include many of the leading contenders for the Cheltenham & Aintree Festivials, also including a significant sections covering the Irish contingent likely to raid our shores during March and April. Plus some hints towards what to look for among the dreaded stats. As if this is not enough, there will also be a look at some of the newcomers to look out for during the spring. This section will hopefully feature many that have been discovered since the autumn book was published. It will be a comprehensive publication, but my aim is to attempt to put in place clear and concise indications, as to which horses to focus upon that deserve special attention during the spring programme for the jumpers. Full details will be sent out to regular book buyers, but if you would like a copy of the ‘Flyer’, please email your address details and I will put you on the mailing list.

The Cheltenham Festival Preview Evening Season will begin at the end of February. I have organised 2 definite dates. The first is Monday 5th March at 7.45, venue is MAGHULL TOWN HALL. Definitely on the panel is Stewart Machin of Channel 4 and RUK, and two further special guests will be confirmed shortly. You will have to put up with me fronting the evening!

The other venue is the Saint Teresa Club in Blacon, Chester at 7.45 on Wednesday 7th March. The panel is Darren Owen, Ken Pitterson and Sam Turner, plus me !

Tickets will be sold in advanced for both venues at £10 each. 0151 520 0080. Please order early to avoid disappointment. There will be raffles and I hope to have some excellent prizes on offer once again.

Last year, the Maghull venue was sold out. It was an amazing night and raised over £2000 for Alder Hey Children’s Hopsital. Once again donations will be made to charity. I hope you will come along and enjoy the evenings.

Well the season of good will is upon us. The Jumping Prospects book and December Special has provided plenty of good cheer in recent weeks and months. If you were sensible enough to purchase the book and take the plunge into the December Special, you should be more than happy, in fact I’d have to say you should be ‘over the moon’ with the number of successful winners provided since October. Times are good for those who have used the advice from Jumping Prospects.

On Wednesday evening I was given the opportunity by a good friend to attend Wigan v Liverpool. The guy is John Doolan has recently been appointed Youth Team Coach at Wigan. He is an ex-pro himself, who has worked his butt off to gain his coaching badges and he has a big future in the game. When arriving at the ground, sitting in reception was another friend in Mat Jackson, who I have not seen for while. He played for Everton, Wigan and Norwich during his career and is now working at Wigan, along with his media work for Sky TV. Mat and I both had a very good friendship with a man called John Hewitt, who was a top consultant gynecologist at the Womens Hospital in Liverpool until he lost his battle with lung cancer in 2002. We both agreed how much we miss him, as he was an asset to the wider community, a brilliant surgeon, who had a lot to do with the introduction of IVF into Merseyside. Two years ago they name the IVF Unit after John, it is the Hewitt Centre in the Womens Hospital in Liverpool. Both of us were season ticket holders at Anfield and great friends. Whenever we were out and about after the games, John would always tell any women he talked to that he was a painter and decorator! Since John’s untimely death, I have accompanied his son Jamie to matches at Anfield. He is now 21 and has already shown he is a chip off the old block. He too will be brilliant in his chosen field of high powered finance, having gained an honours degree and is now completing his masters. Just to say too that John’s daughter Becki is a nurse in the army and has served in Afganistan. John’s widow, Jenny is now happily married again and looked radiant on her wedding day earlier this year. It was rather amusing that after talking with Mat I made my way to my seat only to find I was sat next to him during the game. We both had a great craic, but he complimented me on my knowledge of the overall game of football. It really was a night to remember, despite my beloved reds missing a penalty and having to settle for the draw.

Life is not all about racing or football and at this time of year it is always worth thinking about people , who are sadly missed. I’ve enjoyed a good life and will continue to look forward to finding more winners for people who are willing to contiue to support my efforts through Jumping Prospects. Having been told by my four-year-old gorgeous daughter Katie that having hid her breakfast the other morning, I’m on the naughty list!

Happy Christmas to you all.

The December special is now well underway, but let’s not forget the results from the book.

Today two featured ran in the same race, I tipped up the winner KAFFIE @ 11/4, but some people have done something very clever. They also backed second placed TWEEDLEDRUM featured in the Tom Symonds interview in a forecast at odds of 100/1 paying £244.27 to a £1 stake !!!

Well done to those who follow the featured horses in the JP book.

Another winner today was TOTO CORDE MEO trained by Tim Vaughan. There was a big gamble on this one, who held on in a driving finish up the stiff Towcester Hill.

I’m just hoping the weather holds into next week, as I’m flying at present having grinded out an 11 point profit on those advised during the past 6 days. Whatever happens now, I’m just hopeful the good times continue to gather momentum.
